Счет (account) в банке, средства на котором не могут быть использованы для оплаты чеков (сравни: cheque account (чековый счет)). Процент, выплачиваемый по депозитным счетам, зависит от текущей ставки процента и срока заблаговременного уведомления банка о намерении изъять деньги, однако он всегда выше процента, выплачиваемого по текущему счету (current account). Налог на проценты по депозитным счетам обычно уплачивается у источника дохода, однако иностранные и институциональные клиенты могут получать брутто – проценты.
